SPEAK EASY: Animation workshop with award-winning casting director and author Jen Rudin.

Students will use Jen Rudin’s book Confessions of a Casting Director as a guide to audition for voiceover/animation. We’ll warm up with commercial copy in round one, then move on to animation in round two. In this workshop, we will cover the basics of script analysis. Identify tone and genre, what characters want and need, and find the voice to match the animated character. A link with sides to choose from will be sent to the attendee along with a movie to watch/analyze a few days prior to the class.

Class is limited to 10.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Jen Rudin is an Award-Winning Casting Director and author who grew up in New York City and began her professional acting career at age eight. She is the author of Confessions of a Casting Director: Help Actors Land Any Role with Secrets from Inside the Audition Room published by HarperCollins. It’s also now a podcast. Jen spent seven years as a Casting Executive at The Walt Disney Company. From 2002-2007, Jen served as head of casting for Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California and she won the 2006 Artios Award for casting Chicken Little and the 2010 Artios Award for The Princess and the Frog. From 2007-2009, she served as Director of Casting and Talent Development for Disney Theatrical Productions in New York City.

Recent casting credits include an animated series for Netflix, Sesame Street, pilots for the Disney Channel and numerous commercials including the original “Can You Hear Me, Now?” campaign for Verizon. Additional commercials include Liberty Mutual, Porsche, Macy’s and those animated talking bears for Charmin. Her company, Jen Rudin Casting, casts projects in New York and LA.
