Story & Character Audiobook Narration w/Shannon Parks

This class will focus on an exploration of acting and vocal techniques designed to strengthen and expand the audiobook narrator’s approach to character development, storytelling, and vocal flexibility and range, using Shannon’s personal “vocal layering technique” to develop character specificity and differentiation in fiction narration.
The class will begin with an overview of techniques for character exploration in the prep stages of narration: given circumstances, need/obstacle/action, relationship, and discovering the essential narrator voice. Then it progresses to a vocal layering technique for creating a specific and distinct voice for each character in the story. Students will have an opportunity to experiment with and implement the process with guidance and feedback from Shannon in the course of the webinar.
