Voice Over 101: Intro

Dates: This class runs Sundays from 6 – 8pm, starting Jan. 17th and running for 8 weeks

PLEASE NOTE: This class will be conducted online through Zoom! Enrolled students will be emailed a Zoom link earlier in the evening of the event. For the best experience you should have a steady internet connection and a quiet space. The experience is best on a laptop, desktop, or large iPad – ideally you won’t have the device in your hand so that you can stand up and move around and still be on camera.

Instructor: Hannah Zaino

Prerequisites: None. All levels of actors are welcome. Email info@rvacomedy.com with questions.

There’s more to voice acting than a “great voice”. Gain an advanced understanding of Voice Acting, careers in this field, how it applies to your theater work, and where to apply the skills even further. We will go over breathing exercises, practice scripts, developing and delving deep into commercial characters, taking direction, using improv in the booth, and where to utilize these skills as you move forward with any career. The goals of this course are to:

  1. Push your innate talent and take critique.
  2. Enhance your character development and physical confidence in performance.
  3. Learn to market your voice.

Hannah has worked in the world of marketing and advertising for over 13 years. Initially a focused Copywriter and Brand Manager who broke loose and ditched the “big girl” ad-world to run food and drinks for a burger bar, she now operates full-time as a Voice Actor using that past to inform work for clients such as Seaworld, Hasbro, Carmax, Guitar Center, Warner Bros, Value City Furniture, Popeyes, Cartoon Network, Discovery Education, Gov’t Communications, Olay, QVC, Live Events, Educational Resources, VR tour guides and more. She also teaches Voice Acting in Richmond, VA.

COST: So that everyone might experience the joy of learning comedy, The Coalition is experimenting with the idea of a “Pay What You Can” program. For an 8 week session, a donation of $150 is suggested to secure a place in this class but $0 is a totally acceptable payment. In order to move forward, however, each individual class does need to be able to bring in enough money to pay its instructor and its share of the cost of Zoom.
