Different roles will need different accents.
This workshop will be super practical.
You’ll get to make some sounds, “twist your tongue” and get the tools to keep on practicing.
We will focus on the Neutral Standard English(RP) accent.
We will work with characters and scripts from plays to put the accent into stories and context.
You don’t need any acting experience and you don’t need to be a native English speaker to take this workshop. Each student will work from where they are and we will all learn from each other.
Parts of this class will be recorded and you will be sent extracts which are relevant to you so you can keep on practicing with the advice you got from the teacher.
This workshop will be led by Pamela Kay. Here are a few words from her:
“Hi, I’m Pamela Kay and I’m a voice, accent and dialect coach, coaching and teaching in all aspects of voicework.
I work with student actors and performers, actors and theatre companies – both professional and amateur, non-native English speakers, and anyone who wants to become a more confident voice user.
I love the diversity of my work, because the voice can do so many different things, leading to so many wonderful discoveries. This is especially true of accents. With accents, you can explore the whole world with your voice!
