Podcasting: You Have an Idea For a Podcast… Now What?

Podcasts – seems they’re everywhere, and everyone’s got one. But how do you launch one? And how do you ensure your idea has legs? In this 3-hour workshop, writer and podcast creator Melissa Clark will introduce the current landscape of podcasts, discussing what elements contribute to their success and popularity. We’ll explore various podcast production companies and the shows that are helping form their identiites. Owner and engineer Mike DeLay will illustrate the technical aspects of bringing your ideas to life. Come get inspired in this creative and informative workshop.

About Your Instructors:

Melissa Clark is the creator/writer of the episodic kid’s podcast, “Becoming Mother Nature,” and the forthcoming “Grandma For President” to be released this fall on a major podcasting app. She created the animated television series, “Braceface,” which starred the voice of Alicia Silverstone and ran on ABC Family Channel for 5 seasons. She is the author of three novels, “Swimming Upstream, Slowly,” “Imperfect,” and “Bear Witness,” and teaches writing classes in colleges, book festivals and writing conferences across the country.

Mike DeLay is the Owner/ Audio Engineer at Real Voice L.A. He studied audio engineering at Musicians Institute here in Los Angeles and is an Avid Pro Tools HD Certified Operator. Mike has worked as a free lance audio engineer, mix engineer, music editor and composer. Just before launching RVLA he worked with Silverlake Sounds handling music editing for 20 TV shows and has custom composed or had music placed in shows on NBC, ABC, Freeform, VH1, MTV, Discovery Channel, Bravo!, NatGeo, The Style Network, and Showtime.
