Grammy-nominated Director Jayme Mattler and Audie winning narrator Xe Sands team up in this audiobook narration workshop! In this class we will explore the building blocks of great narration with a focus on Comprehension, Authenticity, and Emotional Connection. We’ll spend time exploring the differences between 1st and 3rd person points of view, different genres, and character voices. By making honest choices and dissecting the material, we will create authentic reads that clearly pass on the comprehension of the piece to your listeners.
While this is a performance workshop, we will also have a business discussion about how to network and build your business to have a successful audiobook career.
Open to all levels of experience. Please bring 2 book samples to work on in class (one 1st person, one 3rd person, any genres, fiction or non-fiction) from books published in the last 10-15 years that are (voice) age and gender appropriate for you. You may bring printed pages with a copy for me as well, or send me a PDF ahead of class and bring your own iPad.
