Hi, kids!
Every day, most of us use (and potentially abuse) our voices mindlessly, not realizing that some of those little muscles are only 10 cells thick!
It’s challenging enough to maintain vocal health through the average daily grind of dehydration, sleep deprivation, and the constant need to communicate.
Add to that the vocal gymnastics we voice actors are requested to perform for our daily auditions and gigs: screaming from a gunshot to the gut, screaming while falling through the air, screaming while on fire AND falling through the air…
While we actors take punishment for video games, our voices get the brunt of the abuse. Then we get up and do it again the next day (without so much as a kiss goodnight or flowers!).
I am consistently surprised by the lack of attention paid to vocal health by the voiceover community, so I wanted to create a create a Vocal Health Summit for the voice actors in the Character Acting Program.
Meet Dr. Aaron Feinstein, Yvonne Morley-Chisholm, and Professor Micha Espinosa.
By the end of the day, you will understand the anatomy of your vocal tract, obtain a checklist of vocal health maintenance and damage prevention practices to add to your daily routine, understand the Fitzmaurice method of unlocking the natural voice, a basic daily warmup, and much more.
Have your questions ready and treat yourself and your career to a vocal spa day, guided by three top experts!
