Because of his versatility, Chris Fries is one of the most sought after voice actors in the industry. When starting out in voiceover, Chris explored and trained in multiple genres for the purpose of seeing what he liked, what he was good at, and of course, to expand his revenue potential. Little did he know, he was able to achieve work in several areas of the industry.
His “Big 3” would be Commercials, Promos and Video Games, having voiced thousands of projects. Some commercial projects include campaigns for Dodge, Chevron, America’s Best, Bud Light, Subway, Rocket Mortgage, McDonalds, & Ace Hardware.
Promos for CBS, FOX, History Channel, HGTV, DIY, TruTV, Fox Sports 1, ESPN, SEC Network, & Nat Geo.
Video games such as Call of Duty (multiple titles), Batman (multiple titles), Skylanders, (multiple titles), Halo, Medal of Honor (multiple titles), and dozens more. He can also add countless projects in ADR/looping (voice-matched for Jeff Bridges, Thomas Haden Church and dozens of
character actors), In-Show Narration (for History Channel, Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, and other networks), Radio Imaging, Trailer, Animation, & TV Affiliates.
Chris is repped by CESD (LA & NY) and works primarily from his home studio in Orange County, California.
The world of Promo is exciting and fast-paced. To say it’s never the same day twice, is an understatement. You need to be a chameleon as much, if not more so, than a voice actor in any other genre (animation, video games, commercial) – going from dark and dramatic to warm and friendly, to intense and energetic.
Along with exploring the reads, we’ll discuss the different types of promo sessions (dry, beeps, SOT), the difference between network and cable network promos, rates, and the best way to break into promo.
