The Voice Over Study is a group performance-based 6 week-long workshop. Twelve participants get 12 hours of online group coaching. It’s an opportunity to concentrate on performance specifically for today’s voice over market in commercials, narrations, eLearning and explainers (which make up >60% of available work).
Born of successful group performance coaching experiences in Montreal, Toronto, Atlanta and Los Vegas, and replicating similar workshops that colleagues in LA and NYC offer, Kim Handysides launched the first Voice Over Study group in March 2020.
The Voice Over Study is broken into a 3-hour Intro session followed by 6 x 90-minute weekly practice sessions. We begin with a focus on commercials. TV, radio and web commercials are the most lucrative of voice over jobs. Booking one can make your month, and if it’s a big enough media buy or a long campaign, even your year. In the first part of our work, we’ll break down the elements of nailing a spot. From targeted script analysis, to connecting with the message, to bringing your best read, to the optimal way to show your range. Kim will share a solid action plan for self-tapes and what to include and not include in your commercial demo. The intro typically happens on a weekend (Sunday) afternoon 1:30 – 4:30 Eastern time.
