My creative journey started as a musician in the band I Am Ghost on Epitaph Records (bass/keys/bgvs & writing/orchestration). I performed on 2 studio albums, 6 US tours, 1 Canadian tour, the Kerrang! Tour (UK), & the Vans Warped Tour in 2006 & 2007. During this time, I was featured in Alternative Press Magazine, Metal Hammer Magazine, Fuse TV, Kerrang! TV, MTV2, and yes, even the front page of Myspace (Sometimes it’s tough to know you peaked early).
I switched to the non-profit sector in 2008 where I served for 8 years as the Artistic Director at Canyon Ridge Church. I helped implement the launch & growth of the church to 300 members as well as recruit, train, & lead a team of 20+ artists. In 2010, I co-founded Idaho Rising Stars Performing Arts Camps with my wife, Kerith. Along with a staff of 5, our summer camps taught kids the basics in musical theatre through original, science-based musicals. I served as the artistic director, playwright, technical director, & acting coach. Over three summers, we trained more than 300 students, several of whom have become professional actors.
In 2014, I went back to school to finish my bachelor’s degree in music, as well as add BA’s in media production/communication & theatre. My thesis, “LARP: The Musical”, a full-length, hard rock musical, was produced at Boise State University to sold-out audiences. I started standup comedy in 2018’s Boise’s Funniest Person and have since performed with Lady Bizness, Mattio Martinez, Jessica Keenan, Sophie Hughes, & Robert Downey Jr. (America’s Got Talent).
I recently spent 2 years in the corporate world as the creative director with BeMyApp and Hackathon.com to develop and produce their masterclass product. We combined the idea of a masterclass with a hackathon and over the course of 2 years, I lead the content creation for 16 masterclasses, featuring teaching from industry experts and for the teams at IBM db2 and IBM AIX.
I currently spend my days narrating audiobooks, writing hard-rock musical screenplays, and acting in indie films and tv series like “The Chosen”.
I am also passionate about giving back to serve others. I have taught acting with Pathlight International in Belize and served as an actor and teacher with Dramatic Adventure Theatre in Tanzania/NYC. With that team, we co-wrote and performed “Ubinadamu”, a one-act play that went on to help fund a labor ward, medical center, and performing arts center in the village where we taught: Mloka Selous.
The Abaton Calendar is a resource created for and by voice talent, to help create meaningful connections and forge and maintain professional and personal relationships. (And hopefully, have a hell of a lot of fun in the process).
