THE KRISTIN LINKLATER VOICE CENTRE
a retreat-style, residential, voice centre in the Orkney Islands
Built adjacent to Kristin’s house, the Kristin Linklater Voice Centre lies on a hillside with panoramic views over lochs, fields, coastal cliffs and bays.
The workshop studio is large and airy, with a cathedral ceiling, wonderful natural light and cushioned acoustic flooring with under-floor heating. The studio adjoins a living-room, kitchen and communal dining area where groups eat together, relax and socialize. An adjacent building, The Bothy, completes the retreat-style nature of the centre with 12 single bedrooms, one double bedroom and shared toilet/shower facilities.
Central to the ethos of Kristin’s training is an experience of communal living and working which offers a shared process of discovery and personal growth in the daily practice of voice. By providing catered, residential workshops the Kristin Linklater Voice Centre gives participants the rare opportunity of total immersion training, free from the distractions of daily life and in the company of like-minded people.
The Abaton Calendar is a resource created for and by voice talent, to help create meaningful connections and forge and maintain professional and personal relationships. (And hopefully, have a hell of a lot of fun in the process).
