(Performer)Lisa Flanagan is an improviser, voice actor and classical soprano. She started doing improv in Boston in order to stay sane during grad school and was so lucky to find The Magnet upon moving back to New York. She performed for several years with Kiss Punch Poem and is currently a producer and performer with The Forgers Guild. You can also see her photography in various Magnet team pics.
Lisa has sung a bunch of operas like Tosca, Suor Angelica, La Bohème, Faust and Götterdämmerung. She was a long time performer at Symphony Space’s Bloomsday on Broadway before becoming the program?s Music Director. Lisa’s curates a concert series at the Cornelia Street Cafe in the West Village. She combined her love of improv and opera with Frank Spitznagel to create the one-woman improvised opera, La Donna Improvvisata, which debuted at the Magnet as part of the 2013 New York Musical Improv Festival and gone on to perform around the country (Del Close Marathon, iO Chicago, NCCAF).
Lisa also narrates audiobooks, voices animation, commercials, promos, audio tours and other VO work. For a year she was a talking submarine.
The Abaton Calendar is a resource created for and by voice talent, to help create meaningful connections and forge and maintain professional and personal relationships. (And hopefully, have a hell of a lot of fun in the process).
