Lynnanne Zager has been an actor and voiceover artist for over 25 years with over a thousand credits to her name. She is also one of the community’s most respected voiceover teachers – with a passion for passing it on to the next generation. She is proud to be the narrator of Discovery Investigation’s Deadly Women now starting it’s 6th season, the Countdown Computer/DHARMA in ABC’s LOST, and the voice of the Enterprise in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek.
She also does specialty voices in The Killing, Criminal Minds and Army Wives. After graduation from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA and an MFA, she brought her talents to Los Angeles. As fate would have it, she landed a “typing” (remember that?) job at Hanna Barbera Studios. She typed for the renowned animation director Tex Avery. During the time that she worked for Tex (before he passed away) he created different characters based on her. The logo that she uses today is one that he drew of her in the early 1980’s.
Within three months Lynnanne was Talent Coordinator of Hanna Barbera, and with Gordon Hunt and Ginny McSwain cast and recorded 29 animated Saturday morning cartoon shows including, The Flintstones, Popeye, SuperFriends, The Smurfs, Richie Rich, Scooby Doo and Space Ghost. She worked alongside and learned her craft from idols Mel Blanc, Daws Butler, June Foray, Michael Bell, Frank Welker, Peter Cullen, Casey Kasem and Lorenzo Music.
It was Russi Taylor (the voice of Pebbles and Minnie Mouse) who recommended that Lynnanne try the ADR world of voiceover. She left Hanna Barbera to pursue an independent career in acting. It began with: screaming, crying, wailing, flailing, newscasters, announcers, computers, mothers, …laughing, burping, GPS, dispatch…”the white zone is for loading and unloading of passengers only, no parking”! – Check out the computer demo on the video page! Lynnanne was hooked on the amazing world of voice acting!
Today she is known as the consummate professional, not only in ADR but in commercials, promos, narration, announcing, audio books, and computer games. Chrysler, California Cheese “Happy Cow”, McDonalds, Nike, AT&T, Comcast, JumpStart, NBC, BBC America, Armed Forces TV, Walt Disney World on Ice, The City of Hope, Ovation Television and National Geographic Documentaries, The Hulk, Dante’s Inferno, Dead Space 2 and The Syndicate VG’s. She loves to lend her voice to young artists’ pilots and web series’ – so don’t be afraid to ask!
Lynnanne’s favorite job by far was a one time gig announcing for her home town baseball team – the Los Angeles DODGERS!!! Standing in front of the dugout in Dodger Stadium on a warm July night at a microphone and voicing the opening line-ups to the Diamond Vision – and then going upstairs to the press box and sitting alongside Vin Scully and announcing the first inning! Nothing is better than that!
The Abaton Calendar is a resource created for and by voice talent, to help create meaningful connections and forge and maintain professional and personal relationships. (And hopefully, have a hell of a lot of fun in the process).
