Mea Starr Tavares is a practitioner of traditional Usui Reiki, Polarity Therapy and Craniosacral therapy and a teacher of Reiki and Yoga who has been practicing energy medicine in New England for the past 22 years. As a person in long-term recovery, as well as a non-binary Transgender person, Mea is particularly passionate about offering tools of embodiment, mindfulness and healing to those on journeys of all forms of radical self-acceptance.
Mea began their journey with energy-based modalities in 1996, training in the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage of Reiki (brought to the west in 1938 via Hawayo Takata). They earned their “Reiki Master/Teacher” certification in this lineage in 1999. In 2008 Mea expanded their language to Polarity Therapy, completing a 660 Hour certification program in 2009. They currently hold international certification as a practicing Polarity Therapy Professional through the International Polarity Education Alliance. Their dedication to learning the traditional and esoteric origins of the modalities they practice led them to dive deeper into Reiki’s traditional practices, where they then trained in the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage, the lineage believed to be closest to Usui’s original teachings, with Frans Stiene, co-founder of the International House of Reiki. Mea earned certification at the Shinpiden level of this lineage (“Mystery Teachings” – the traditional Practitioner & Teacher level of training) in 2015. Alongside energy-based bodywork, Mea earned their 200 Hour Yoga Teacher certification in 2016. With Polarity’s origins in Ayurvedic and Osteopathic philosophy and medicine, yoga was a natural avenue of inquiry and a path to deep Truth. They continued to expand their language of yoga through the modality of Yoga Nidra, training with Sager Urlacher. Following the line of osteopathic listening, Mea began training in Craniosacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute in the spring of 2018. Today, Mea enjoys synthesizing the energetic with the physical, drawing the languages of Yoga, Reiki, Polarity and Craniosacral Therapy together to create potent practices of deep unwinding, release and connection at all levels: emotional, physical and energetic.
The Abaton Calendar is a resource created for and by voice talent, to help create meaningful connections and forge and maintain professional and personal relationships. (And hopefully, have a hell of a lot of fun in the process).
