Paul Alan Ruben’s debut short story collection, Terms of Engagement: Stories of the Father and Son, will be published (Nov. 6, 2018/Larkin Books, a division of Alison Larkin Presents) in print, as an ebook and an audiobook. Three of the collection’s stories have been published: “The Underdog,” by Pennsylvania English/35; “Father, Son and the Holy Obit,” by Pif Magazine, “A Minor Adjustment,” Connotation Press.
Paul’s non-fiction publications range from a college textbook, Public Speaking/Public Thinking (co-authored with Anthony Millilli), to various print and online publications, including Dadcentric.com, The Good Men Project, Fatherly, and Audiofile Magazine.
Paul has provided services for every major American publisher since 1988. Tribeca Audio is his full service audio book production company. Winner of two Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word– Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, by Al Franken, and Always Looking Up, by Michael J. Fox—Paul has produced and directed multiple award-winning audiobooks, and continues to teach storytelling to emerging and professional narrators in New York City and across the country. Paul’s audiobook narrator’s blog has provided him a platform for a national following.
Paul was born in Queens, N.Y., holds a BA in Theatre from Yankton College (South Dakota), an MA in Theatre from Bowling Green State University (Ohio), and an MFA in Fiction from Spalding University (Louisville, KY). His wife, Paula, is an accomplished actress and audiobook director. Following two federal clerkships, his son, Brandon, (Fordham University School of Law, magna cum laude/2016) will clerk for D.C. circuit Appellate Judge Robert L. Wilkins in 2018. Brandon’s wife, Lianna Gomori-Ruben, is a former teacher, published writer and is currently employed part time by The Girl Scouts of America.
