Back in 2013, Nic was busy piling up her masters degrees in between late night comedy slots and Leah was slogging away as a VO and local radio newsreader. THEN… Nic misplaced an apostrophe on her website, and so began an inevitable series of events that led to the creation of the most spangly podcast for voiceovers in the UK.
It went like this – Leah emailed Nic – a complete stranger – to tell her about her dramatic punctuation error. Nic was preposterously nice about it; inviting her to come along to a VO event in London, and by 2015 they’d both moved back to Salford and were running a regular social for voiceovers in the North of England.
The podcast itself started out as a regular five minute rant on Soundcloud about why people should come and meet us in the pub, but soon spiralled out of control and became the epic monthly extravaganza it is today.
The Abaton Calendar is a resource created for and by voice talent, to help create meaningful connections and forge and maintain professional and personal relationships. (And hopefully, have a hell of a lot of fun in the process).
